This wine is from Italy, Piedmont region, Barbera D'alba sub-region. In 1991, Pio Cesare purchased a small estate in Serralunga d' Alba, close to the Ornato vineyard. This new estate is a perfect location, facing south, and could have been a great Barolo vineyard. Instead, they removed the nebbiolo vines and replaced with barbera. Ageing for twenty months in small French oak barrels as well as 25 hectolitre casks, contributes a sweetness and longevity of tannins. The colour is wonderful, typical of the barbera varietal.
